Small Steps Lasting Change is built around a single, unified practice for caring for yourself over time.

It is not a program to complete. It is not a set of rules to follow.

It is a way of living — tended slowly, with compassion, through whatever life brings.

How The Practice Works

The Practice has three parts, always in relationship with each other.

The Foundation

The Foundation is the ground. The four domains of everyday self-care — Move, Nourish, Rest, and Protect — that we tend to throughout our lives. None of them is ever finished. All of them matter. They form one ground, not a list.

The Processes are the skills. Six ways of working with whatever is happening right now: Centering, Aligning Values, Choosing Outcomes, Experimenting, Identifying Supports, and Drifting Off Track. You reach for them in any order, from wherever you are.

The Spiral of Change is the nature of how all of it moves. Not in a straight line. Not toward a finish. In a gradual, cycling motion that deepens over time. Awareness grows each time around. That deepening is the whole point.

The Practice comes alive in Practice Spaces — cohort-based containers where participants develop and strengthen The Practice together. Each Practice Space focuses on a part of The Practice, always within the context of the whole.
